Appeal for information following hit-and-run in Avon Way Colchester


Police in Colchester are appealing for witnesses are a car failed to stop following a serious injury collision.

The incident happened during the early hours of morning on Thursday, 8th November when it was reported a silver car collided with a pedestrian on Avon Way near to the junction with Alfounder Close.

Following the incident, the driver was reported to be seen driving off in the direction of Greenstead and the A133 roundabout.

Essex Police have said in a statement: “We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a silver car, which may of had damage to the passenger side wing mirror.

“We would also like those who have dashcam footage and were in the area around the time of the collision to get in contact with us.


“We are also appealing to find the driver of a small dark-coloured car, which was over taken by the silver car on Avon Way shortly before the collision.”

A man in his 20s was taken to hospital following the incident with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Police report a 20-year-old man from Colchester was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following a road accident and causing serious injury through dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation.
