Man jailed for Colchester robbery

A 21 year old man from Harwich has been jailed for two years and eight months after pleading guilty to a robbery in Colchester on July 28.

Simon Jacobs, of no fixed address, admitted entering Chimes on Trinity Street, smashing a display unit with a hammer and stealing jewellery which totalled a five figure sum.

Immediately after leaving the clock watch and jewellery repair specialist, Jacobs was chased by an off-duty Detective assisted by members of the public and arrested on suspicion of robbery. Thankfully no one was hurt during the incident.

Jacobs was sentenced to 32 months in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court on August 31.

Essex Police are still looking for a second man in connection with the robbery, who entered the store alongside Jacobs and threatened staff with a tyre wrench.
