Magnetic Putty removed from Amazon amid concerns over safety

Essex Trading Standards have confirmed concerns over a product called “magnetic putty” which has been withdrawn from sale on Amazon.

The product, marketed as a children’s toy has recently been withdrawn from Amazon after confirmation that it contains arsenic, lead and a magnetic substance that was 29 times over the permitted force.

A warning has been issued as the product is harmful if accidentally ingested, with the public being asked to be vigilant as there may be variants of this product circulating elsewhere.

In a statement from Essex Trading Standards, the public are advised if they are at all concerned “to remove these products from use immediately” and if your version of the putty contains a small powerful magnet (banned by Toy Safety rules), or the tin/packaging has no name or address of an importer or manufacturer as required by law, to “contact the retailer for a refund or if in doubt, dispose of safely.”
