Busy day of ins and outs on ‘Transfer deadline day’


Colchester United concluded the winter Transfer Window with a number of moves in and out of the club.

United are looking to bolster their squad as they push for promotion from League Two in May.

Players coming in;

Early in the window, the U’s signed Paul Rooney from Millwall and the duo of Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and Ryan Gondoh from Maldon & Tiptree, along with the conversion of Brandon Comley’s loan deal to a permanent move.


Yesterday, Colchester signed pacey winger Olamide Shodipo from QPR (loan), Forward Liam Mendeville from Doncaster (Loan), Aaron Barnes from Charlton (Full time) and Ben Stevenson from Wolves (loan).

Players leaving;

Several U’s players are currently out on loan at other clubs around the country, whilst Sanmi Odelusi, Kyel Reid, Nicke Kabamba and Brandon Hanlan all moved onto pastures new in January.

Yesterday both Lewis Kinsella and Dan Jefferies moved to Aldershot and Dundee, respectively.

The newly adjusted United squad next face Newport on Saturday at 3pm.
