Colchester pegged back to draw at Vale

Port Vale twice came from behind, snatching a late equaliser, for a well deserved draw against Colchester.

Things started so well for The U’s. Courtney Senior’s cross found the back of the net after 12mins.

Port Vale equalised though after 32 mins when Worrall smashed it low and hard to beat Sam Walker at his near post.

United led at half time after Sammie Szmodics found Drey Wright in the box and his shot hit goalkeeper Rob Lainton but still found the back of the net, with almost the last kick of the half.

But it was Worrall again, who struck two minutes from time when he turned in Luke Hannant’s low shot that looked to be heading wide.

The draw leaves United 4 points adrift of the playoff spots.

Port Vale had the better of possession, but with Colchester leading until so near the end, the U’s will travel home feeling it was 2 points dropped.
