UK favourite coffee chain, Costa Coffee, have announced their commitment to reducing waste and increasing recycling.
The coffee shop giant have confirmed they are removing plastic straws from their stores later this year and will launch a non-plastic alternative.
Earlier last year, the chain removed their napkins from the customer dispensers saving “tonnes of needless waste”.
Costa have committed to an “ongoing review” this year into all their packaging and takeaway cups in a commitment to reduce waste from their stores.
Until the launch of the eco-friendly alternative, the regular plastic straws will continue to be available to customers.
The coffee chain has recently been voted the “Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop” for the 8th year running and have seven locations in Colchester.
