A man who could be facing criminal charges under the Sexual Offences Act has had a risk order against him extended.
Colchester magistrates agreed to extend the order until March 23, when Shibbir Ahmed is due to appear in court pending the outcome of the main application.
Ahmed, 57, has been subject to restrictions for several months. He is forbidden from unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 and is not allowed to offer gifts or lifts to girls under 18.
Claire Holmes, prosecuting, told Colchester Magistrates’ Court “He’s been subject to this order since January last year and since that matter, no further matters have been brought to Essex Police.”
She added Ahmed, of Coronation Avenue, Colchester, is “possibly looking at criminal charges” but it would be prejudicial to discuss these matters in open court.
Ahmed is listed as an owner of the ‘Tandoori Villa’ Indian restaurant, in Stanway, Colchester.
