At a public meeting last night (6th December) the future of the area of land, locally known as the Harvey Road play area site, was agreed.
Representatives from the community, Colchester Borough Council, the Shrub End residents’ association and local politicians, all agreed a way forward.
The area is to be cleaned up and new dog bins and rubbish bins installed. New gates are to be fitted by Colchester Borough Council.
The area is to be left mainly to grass, so the local community can use it for BBQs, and with permission, for children’s parties and similar events.
The area will be locked overnight, opened by residents around 7.30-8am each morning, closing at dusk.
It’s hoped it will open to the public by the Spring.
