The massively popular, Colchester Cricket festival, has been cancelled for the second year running.
The event was cancelled last year when the fixture list only gave Essex one home game in a three month period. It was unacceptable to ECC to have Chelmsford’s County ground without cricket for that whole period whilst matches would have been played in Colchester.
This year the fixture list has again conspired against Colchester, with the traditional Bank holiday weekend dates, allocated instead for the quarter finals of the Natwest T20 blast.
Philip George, president of Colchester and East Essex Cricket club said; “Just because this is the second year in a row it hasn’t happened, it doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen again.”
Essex are the current County Championship champions.
