Free parking Wednesday returns to Colchester this winter with free parking from 3pm available in selected town centre council car parks.

From Wednesday, 29th November Colchester Council are offering shoppers the opportunity to park for free at the following car parks:-

St John’s Street
Vineyard Street
Britannia
Butt Road
Napier Road
Sheepen Road
Middleborough
St. Mary’s

However the excitement of free parking is limited to each Wednesday on the run up to Christmas from 29th November to 20th December 2017, from 3pm at the council run car parks listed only.

The free parking offer in the town will coincide with late night shopping events to take place on these Wednesdays, when participating shops will stay open until 9pm.

Many residents have already expressed their opinions on social media regarding the free parking scheme with many suggesting the council should extend free parking offers to other occasions; supporting local business.

With Small Business Saturday on 2nd December, no announcement has yet been made as to whether free parking will be offered by the council to support local businesses.

More information on the free parking offer and other parking charges can be found on the Colchester Council website.
