Police appeal following serious collision


COLCHESTER: Police are appealing for information after a serious collision leaves a man in “critical condition”.

The incident occurred on Lexden Road, Colchester, just before 2.35am on Sunday morning (31st March).

In a statement, Essex Police said “a silver Hyundai i30 and a pedestrian were involved in the incident”.

A spokesperson for Essex Police added the pedestrian, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital with injuries that may be “life-changing”.

The man remains in a critical but stable condition.


The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his 20s, remained on scene assisting police with their enquiries.

It is understood no arrests have been made at this time.

The road has now re-opened following an earlier closure during which a police investigation was carried out.
