Police appeal following early morning town centre robbery


Police are are investigating a robbery in Colchester where watches worth a five figure sum were stolen.

Two suspects riding a motorbike used a hammer to smash the front doors of Ernest Jones jewellers in Shewell Walk, Colchester, at about 4.35am on Wednesday 12th December.

Display cases were smashed during the raid and TAG Heuer and Longines watches were stolen.

Police have reported one of the suspects had what appeared to be a gun. Two security guards were inside the premises at the time but were unhurt.


A police spokesperson said the suspects were described as white, aged in their late teens to early 20s and wore black leathers. One had a white crash helmet.

Officers later carried out a search of the area and enquiries are ongoing.
