Customers of a local bakery in Stanway were treated to a surprise last week following the completion of a six-week shop refit.
Blackberry Bakery Gallery of Taste in Blackberry Road, Stanway has undergone a complete internal refit and now features new serving counters, seating and table service.
Marta Rosmanowska, manager of the bakery said many thousands had been spent on the design and choice of the interior and kitchen. “We were sadly delayed in opening for two weeks due to supplier issues with our new kitchen and flooring, however we are now fully open, and we couldn’t be happier with the finished results.
“I’ve had a direct hand in choosing all the decoration, the sofas, the cabinets. The bakery was in real need of modernisation. I’m so very proud of what we are able to offer our customers in Stanway, and beyond.”
Customers have expressed their delight at the new design of the bakery. Mr Hamish, who works in Colchester and passes the bakery most mornings, said: “It’s amazing what they have done, compared to what it was. I’ve been passing wondering when it will be open again. The wait has been worthwhile. I love it.”
Blackberry Bakery Gallery of Taste plans to open 7 days a week, serving full English breakfasts alongside cakes, pastries, bread, waffles, sandwiches and jacket potatoes.
The sit-in and take away bakery also provides table service, employing six staff, serving both hot and cold drinks.
Orders for fresh bread are still being taken in-store by the staff, a one-to-one personal and local service Marta says is “vital” in making the bakery the best it can be.
