COLCHESTER: Dignitaries and mentors from across Colchester came out to support the many small businesses and entrepreneurs in the town.
A tour bus organised by the Small Business Saturday movement was welcomed to the High Street in Colchester on Wednesday (7th November).
The bus allowed business mentors to speak one-on-one with entrepreneurs and small business owners looking for advice in taking their next steps in business.
Michelle Ovens MBE, Director of Small Business Saturday, said: “From Birkenhead to Belfast, Glasgow to Carmarthen, The Small Business Saturday bus is travelling the country to celebrate the UK’s fantastic growing businesses, shining a spotlight on their success.
“This tour is a way for us to give back to businesses at the heart of communities – celebrating them, championing them and providing a listening ear and a chance for mentoring.”
Up to twenty businesses-on-board were promoting their products and services outside the bus during the day.
Will Quince, MP for Colchester visited the bus and spoke with entrepreneurs and mentors, giving his support.
During a ‘blue couch’ interview, he said: “It was great to talk up Colchester, why it’s an amazing town to visit, shop and start a business.
“We have many boutique stores with individual items you can’t find anywhere else. We welcome visitors to immerse themselves in our history and enjoy great shopping experiences.”
Small Business Saturday 2018 takes place on Saturday 1st December where shoppers are reminded to use independent retailers and suppliers, and follows the recent launch of the UK’s ‘Small Biz 100’ – a daily celebration of the year’s top small businesses from across the UK.
