Iconic ‘Small Business Saturday’ bus tour to visit Colchester this November

It has been confirmed this year’s Small Business Saturday tour bus will be visiting Colchester High Street on Wednesday 7th November.

The grassroots campaign aims to deliver mentoring sessions for small business owners, along with the famous ‘Blue Sofa’ where live interviews of local dignitaries (broadcast on social media) will take place.

Pre-booked free mentoring sessions will be available for local small businesses owners giving them a chance to talk with mentoring experts on subjects such as business growth, social media, marketing, payments, accounting and more.

Jeremy Hagon, campaigner for Small Biz Saturday in Colchester who helped organised this year’s visit said “It’s exciting news the Small Business Saturday iconic bus tour has chosen to visit Colchester this year, a testament to many small businesses and entrepreneurs working in our town and across the Borough, providing services and employment opportunities to local communities.

“I encourage anyone who is running a business and those perhaps considering taking that leap into starting their own to come along to the High Street on Wednesday 7th November and speak with the members of the Small Biz Saturday team.”

Business seminars taking place on the bus must be booked in advance and are an ideal opportunity for local business owners to gain valuable free advice on managing and running a small business.

Cllr. Darius Laws, Colchester Conservatives Group Leader said “SMEs are the backbone of the British economy and it is incumbent on local authorities to create an environment where businesses can flourish, this means ensuring the historic old town centre is clean and safe.

“I’m also confident the establishment of the new Business Improvement District will take Colchester forward which is a positive for all.”

This year, the Small Business Saturday campaign day takes place on 1st December where communities are encouraged to shop locally and show their support for small businesses in their town, encouraging people to think differently about how they shop.

Jeremy added “We have such a wide range of small businesses in and around Colchester, from hairdressers to accountants, bespoke glass suppliers to owner operated restaurants and cafes, web developers to garage services.

“The Small Business Saturday campaign is an exciting way to highlight the hard work and commitment these entrepreneurs bring to our town, creating employment opportunities for thousands across the region.”

The Small Business Saturday bus tour encourages local business people to become mentors for the day. If you are able to offer your time to mentor on the day, please get in touch with the SBS mentoring team or download the mentor pack for details.
