Man who died in A120 multi-vehicle collision named

COLCHESTER: Police have provisionally named a man who sadly died following a multi-vehicle collision between Marks Tey and Coggeshall.

20-year-old Robbie Trundley from Biggleswade died following a three vehicle collision on the A120 near Coggeshall earlier this month.

The incident happened shortly after 7am on 18th September near the junction of Salmons Lane.

Essex Police said in a statement: “We were called to a three vehicle collision at Salmons Corner just after 7am on September 18. It is believed that a white Fiesta travelling on the A120 towards Colchester was in collision with an HGV which had been travelling in the opposite direction towards Coggeshall.”

A Transit flatbed van which had been travelling behind the Fiesta is understood to have collided with the heavy goods vehicle (HGV).

In a tribute, Mr Trundley’s family have said: “He was much loved and is missed by everyone who knew him.”

The driver of the flat bed Transit is reported to remain in a serious but stable condition in hospital. Both the driver of the HGV and a passenger in the white Fiesta were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Following the incident, the A120 remained closed whilst forensic recovery of the vehicles took place. Sections of the highway had to be resurfaced due to fuel spillage when the HGV overturned.

Witnesses or anyone who captured dash cam footage of the incident are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01245 240590 or email CollisionAppeal@essex.pnn.police.uk
