Free parking and bus transfers for rail commuters taking advantage of Colchester’s Park and Ride in the town come to a close at the end of September.
The parking system owned and operated by Essex County Council (ECC) have run the promotion since August, when changes to the operating hours were implemented.
Rail travellers parking a vehicle at the site off the A12 in Colchester are able to travel on a Park and Ride bus to North Station for free throughout August / September, a saving of up to £3 per adult/day on normal advertised rates.
An ECC spokesperson said: “The Park and Ride is here to help tackle the issue of congestion around the town centre, costing businesses and residents more than £20 million.
“Extended opening hours will help ease the stress of finding a parking space for those who drive to the railway station, hospital or work in the early hours of the morning or later in the evening.”
Park and Ride hours now operate extended hours from 5:30am until 9:00pm Monday to Friday with Saturday opening times from 7:00am until 7:00pm.
