A seven-time British climbing champion will showcase his skills at an upcoming event in Colchester later this month.
Gaz Parry will be visiting the Colchester Climbing Project in Colchester to reveal his secrets at Essex’s only bouldering centre.
The event is to take place this Saturday (28th July) at 1:00pm.
45-year old Parry, who famously climbed the world’s highest sea cliff, started climbing in 1985 and hasn’t stopped since.
James Mackey, founder, said: “This is our first big event and we really want to showcase bouldering and get people involved. This is a great chance to show our passion to the people of Essex.
“We are really excited Gaz is coming down as he is one of the biggest names in the sport and hopefully our walls can challenge him.
“But don’t worry, even if you are beginner there is something here for you.”
Parry will present never before seen films about the extreme sport and answer questions from visitors.
As well as the demo, a BBQ including Vegan options and a bar stocking local beers will be open to visitors.
The Colchester Climbing Project opened earlier this year in the Moorside Industrial Estate and sports 150 routes – known as ‘problems’- that are graded for difficulty.
A cave, overhangs and slabs are all available at the wall, which is open to all abilities.
The Climbing Project team have decades of experience between them and offer adult, group or under 18 classes.
