Police close Straight Road Colchester following incident

Police closed off a main road in Colchester this evening following what has been described as a ‘serious’ incident.

The incident was first reported at around 5pm Monday (2nd July) on Straight Road, Lexden.

It is understood an ambulance was in attendance, however it is not known if any injuries were reported.

We have contacted Essex Ambulance Service for a statement.

A motorcycle was parked within the cordoned area. Police forensics had inspected the vehicle.

Four police units including two dog units attended the scene. No official statement has yet been released by Essex Police.

Vehicles are able to turn off London Road, onto Straight Road and left onto Chaucer Way making their way to Heath Road as a diversion.

Heath Road is open and drivers are able to access Straight Road / Heath Road roundabout.

Straight Road is expected to remain closed until a police investigation of the area is completed.
