A sanctuary garden designed to provide peace and tranquillity for people approaching the end of their lives has moved closer to completion at Colchester Hospital.
A wooden lodge has been installed in the middle of the hospital’s new Time Garden – an area that will offer terminally ill people and their loved ones space for quiet contemplation, reflection and privacy.
Accessible to wheelchair users, the Time Garden opens in June and will have room for a bed to be wheeled into it. There will also be space in the garden for another patient and family to sit.
Green Unit has supplied the lodge and the company was on hand to film its installation via an overhead drone.
It will cost around £160,000 to complete the project. To donate to the Time Garden Appeal please visit www.cohoc.org.uk/time-garden-appeal
The lodge has been delivered ahead of Dying Matters Awareness Week, a national campaign that runs from May 14 to May 20.
