Man fights off knife-point robbery

A man evaded a knife-wielding robber in Shrub End on Friday evening.

He was making a withdrawal from the cashpoint attached to the Co-op store in ‘The Square’ at around 9pm, when he was approached and threatened with a knife.

But he bravely kicked out at his attacker,  escaping into the store where he called the Police. The victim has not been named.

Police described the attacker as being black, around 5ft 8ins tall and of a medium build.

They believe that the suspect “wore a dark hoodie with his hood up and either had a scarf, balaclava or some form of mask covering his face.”

It is believed that he may have been seen by a number of residents hanging around the area.
