Casual dining hamburger restaurant chain Byron Hamburgers have confirmed they will be opening a location in Colchester next year.
It is suggested 25-30 new jobs will be created when the location opens in 2018.
Laura Putin, Operations Manager for Byron said: “Byron is still planning to open in Colchester next year.”
“We continue to look at new growth opportunities nationwide, including the opening of new restaurants, and look forward to a busy 2018.”
A prime location on the Colchester High Street, occupied by Oasis until they closed in January 2017 with a loss of 30 jobs, has been partly branded with the Byron logo.
No sign of development work has been seen for several months.
Byron is owned by private equity firm Hutton Collins who announced in September that Byron’s Managing Director Simon Cope would be appointed to the role of CEO.
The company had traded for 5 months in which the company operated with no Chief Executive.
Simon Cope joined the Byron chain in July 2017, however he previously held a position at Wagamama, which is also owned by Hutton Collins.
Although the firm has confirmed they will open in Colchester, they have stopped short of confirming the previous Oasis unit will be their location of choice.
We have contacted Byron for further comment.
